Case study No.3: Connection between our screw feeder and existing pin mill

Production of screw feeders combined with existing equipment

The customer was looking for a device that fees quantitatively  powdered material into their existing pin mill.

A pin mill is a type of mill that is used for grinding or milling materials into small particles. It is a form of impact milling where the feed material enters the center of a rotating rotor and is impacted by rapidly moving pins. These pins create high-speed impact forces that crush or grind the particles against the sides of a stationary liner or screen.

1.Structure and Operation: A pin mill typically consists of a cylindrical chamber with a set of pins or blades that are mounted on a rotor. The rotor rotates at high speed, and the materials to be ground or crushed are fed into the center of the chamber.

2.Size Reduction: The primary function of a pin mill is to reduce the size of particles. The high-speed rotation of the rotor and the impact from the pins break down the material into smaller particles.

3.Applications: Pin mills find applications in various industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and chemical processing. They are commonly used for grinding spices, creating fine powders, and processing dry, brittle materials.

4.Adjustable Particle Size: Pin mills often allow for the adjustment of particle size by varying factors such as the shape of the pins, the rotational speed of the rotor, and the design of the grinding chamber.

5.Easy Cleaning: The design of pin mills is often simple, and they are relatively easy to clean, making them suitable for processing different materials without cross-contamination.

Pin mills are versatile and can be used for a wide range of materials, from soft to hard and brittle substances. The selection of a pin mill depends on factors such as the material properties, desired particle size, and the specific requirements of the application.
They had been manually adding the raw materials for many years, but the lack of precision in the feeding amount and the tendency for dust to scatter posed problems. To address these issues, they commissioned our company to provide a solution. The connection between the device and the customer’s equipment is made using ferrules and piping. To accommodate the required height adjustments, we are manufacturing a custom stand rather than using a standard screw feeder platform.

We have received requests not only from Japan but also from overseas for production that matches the current situation of our customers. Our strength is our ability to handle a variety of cases. If there is anything we can do to help, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to contacting from you.
